How To Start an eBay Drop Shipping Business

This guide will guide you step by step to setting up your own home based business. By the end of this guide, you will have:

• Created a seller account on eBay.
• Created a Paypal account complete with the ability to accept credit card purchases.
• Opened an eBay store.
• Set up an account with a dropshipper (check out our SaleHoo Review for more information on dropshippers.
• Stocked your eBay store.
• Have auctions up and running.

Step One: Creating a seller account on eBay.

If you do not already have an eBay account, simply click on the link to open one. The process can easily be completed in less than 10 minutes.

If you already have an eBay account, then you will need to convert it to a sellers account. Converting to a selling account is an easy process taking less than 10 minutes to complete.

The following instructions come direct from eBay.

“To begin selling on eBay, you need to register and create a seller’s account. To register as a seller, click the “Sell” link at the top of any eBay page, and then click the Sell Your Item button or learn about registration and creating a seller’s account.

To sell on eBay you need to register to become an eBay member and create a seller’s account. Creating a seller’s account is free. During this one-time process you need to provide information to verify your identity and select how you will pay your seller fees.

If you do not have an eBay account, or if you wish to set up a new one to use purely for selling, please use the link below.

1) Verify your identity.

To help provide a safe environment for the eBay community, you need to provide a credit or debit card to create a seller’s account. In some cases, you’ll also need to provide your checking account information. Your personal information is protected by eBay’s privacy policy and encrypted by the industry standard SSL technology.

If you don’t have a credit card or don’t want to place your card on file, you can establish your proof of identity with ID Verify. Verification costs $5 and is valid until your name, home address or phone number change. You’ll be charged only when you complete the process.

2) Select your payment method.

When creating a seller’s account, you need to select how you pay your seller fees..
You can pay your seller fees using any of the following payment methods:

• PayPal (monthly and one-time payments)
• Direct Pay from your checking account (monthly and one-time payments)
• Credit Card (monthly and one-time payments)
• Check or money order”

Step 2: Creating a PayPal account

Creating a PayPal account is just as easy as setting up an eBay account. If you do not already have a PayPal account, simply click the link to open one.

While creating a PayPal account will take less than 10 minutes, you will need to become PayPal verified to upgrade your account. Failure to upgrade you account will limit the amount of money you can receive and transfer to your bank account. In addition, you will be unable to qualify for PayPal’s seller protection, nor will you be able to accept credit card payments. It is highly recommended you upgrade you account and become verified.

Verifying you Paypal account is a simple process. Simply put, you are linking your bank account to Paypal. This will allow you to move money in both directions between your bank and Paypal. You do not need a business bank account. You can use your personal checking account, or set up an entirely separate account with your bank for use with your paypal account.

It is recommended that you set up a separate checking account for use with your Paypal account. By limiting your Paypal transactions to their own account, you vastly simplify your ability to track and account for funds generated by your business.

PayPal verifies your account by making small electronic deposits into the account you have linked to it. This usually takes 2-3 days. You will need to contact your bank and get the exact amounts that PayPal has deposited.

Next, you will log onto PayPal and enter the deposit amounts. Once you have done this correctly, you will have a verified PayPal account.

Step Three: Opening an eBay Store.

Opening an eBay is a very simple process. Basically, just click the link and eBay does the rest. It takes about 60 seconds. You’ll get a free store with this trial offer.

Step Four: Setting up an Account With a Dropshipper.

Dropshippers are covered in detail in a separate guide on this server. Review it carefully. Since you will have a 2-3 day delay while you wait for your PayPal account to become verified, you can use this time to locate a dropshipper, or wholesaler you want to work with.

For ease of use, product lines, and pricing, I recommend setting up an account with Doba. Doba is a certified eBay services provider. Account set up is simple, and should take less than 10 minutes. You can visit Doba at the link provided below. The link below lets you try Doba for free.

Step Five: Stocking your eBay Store.

Once you have decided on a dropshipper or wholesaler, it is time to stock your eBay store. If you have chosen a company that offers listing software, simply follow their instructions to list products.

If you have chosen a wholesaler or dropshipper that does not offer eBay listing software, you need to create the listings for your store. I recommend using eBay’s Turbo Lister software for creating your listings. Please visit the guide on this server to dedicated to eBay’s Turbo Lister. Turbo Lister is free to install and use.

I highly recommend waiting until your PalPal account has been verified, and you have upgraded it to take credit cards, before you stock your eBay store.

I also recommend reading the guide to eBay Sores, found on this server.

Step Six: Creating Auctions.

To support your eBay store, or to generate sales if you have chosen not to have a store, you will need to create and list auctions.

If your dropshipper or wholesaler has integrated software for creating listings, I suggest you use these.

If your dropshipper, or wholesaler does not provide software, or, if you have found it to complex or cumbersome, I suggest using eBay’s Turbo Lister. Turbo Lister is free to download and use.

Final Thoughts.

If you follow the above steps, and make use of the various guides found on this server, you should have your business up and running in less than five (5) business days.
